About MiniClassics
An independent project for playing the classics in your browser — nothing to install, no account, no downloads.
Why this site exists
MiniClassics started from a simple frustration: searching for “play minesweeper” or “solitaire online” usually lands you on pages full of pop-ups, pages that demand an account, pages that want a plugin, or pages that simply break on a phone. Games anyone could play for free thirty years ago turned into an obstacle course.
The idea here is the opposite: you open the page and the game is ready. No login screen, no download, no “install our app”. If your browser runs it, it works — including on an old phone.
How the games are built
This is what sets us apart, and it is worth stating plainly: every game on MiniClassics is written by us, from scratch. We do not embed third-party games, we do not iframe other portals, we do not resell licensed game packs, and there is no Flash or emulator behind any of it.
Each title is a single HTML file with hand-written CSS and JavaScript — no React, no Unity, no game engine. That has practical consequences for you as a player:
- Pages load in milliseconds, even on a poor connection.
- There is no third-party tracker embedded inside the game itself.
- The game runs entirely on your device — matches do not depend on our server.
- When we fix a bug, the fix applies to all three languages at once.
When a classic has regional rule variations — and nearly all of them do — we pick one version, say clearly which one on the game page, and explain the differences instead of pretending there is only one correct way to play.
About the writing on each game page
Below every game there is a guide written for that specific title: how to play, the rules our version follows, strategies that genuinely change the outcome, the mistakes beginners make most often, and some of the game's history.
We write these ourselves, game by game. They are not generic blurbs recycled across pages: Minesweeper strategy is useless for Solitaire, and the text reflects that. When we mention dates and origins, we would rather leave a detail out than repeat an internet legend that does not hold up.
Languages
The site is available in Portuguese, English and Spanish. Each language has its own URL and text written in that language — it is not machine translation of the Portuguese page. A game only gets another language once the text for that language actually exists.
Privacy and how the site pays for itself
Playing never requires an account. You can create one if you want statistics and history synced across devices, but it is optional and never blocks a game. What we collect, why, and how to request deletion is detailed in the Privacy Policy.
The project is funded by advertising. Our rule is simple: an ad must not get in the way of the game — nothing that covers the board mid-match, and nothing disguised as a game button.
Who runs it
MiniClassics is run independently, with no investor and no large team behind it. New games ship when they are good enough, not on a calendar.
